The BAAM Center
Building African American Minds
Easton, MD
Created by over 700 community members from pre-K to aging adults, this mixed media mosaic welcomes students into the new library at BAAM Center and features over 1662 handmade ceramic leafs, 665 pieces of barks and 100 clay elements found in the soil. The mosaic serves as a donor wall to acknowledge those that contributed to the newly constructed BAAM Center. Each donor's name is creatively captured as the roots of the tree. This mosaic was created over the course of 7 months with multiple workshops with the BAAM students, staff and parents as well as community members in Baltimore attending Community Art Nights. This mixed mosaic captures the heart and soul of the BAAM community.
