Designed by Ali Mirsky and sculpted by Howard Connelly and installed at the South Entrance UMMC Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Ali Mirsky designed, fabricated and led community workshops for this public art project while serving as Director of Community Service and Public Art at Art with a Heart. This sculpture was made during the height of the pandemic of 2020.
The Heart of Baltimore was created in recognition of Art with a Heart’s 20th Anniversary and given as a gift to University of Maryland Medical Center. Created with 950 community members of all ages and backgrounds. Constructed during the Covid-19 pandemic, The Heart of Baltimore represents the love, resilience, and hope of the City of Baltimore.
